Also, it was not shown as active anywhere. I was quite familiar with the DSP engine. When I switch from Kazoo/Minim to Roon, I never noticed.Ĭould something have been enabled deep in Roon’s DSP still causing this? Possibly. I only noticed it when changing from Roon after a long while. I was moving away from Roon at the time anyway, so it was not caused by this. I searched yet more for the explanation before ditching Roon altogether. Not much different, but noticeably different still. And a bit better. Much to my surprise it sounded different. On a whim I started to use Linn’s control point instead (I think it probably was Kazoo and not the Linn App - this was around the time of Roon 1.4/1.5). So, no DSP and certainly no airplay to my Linn. The audio path is also reasonable clearly shown in the app. I was quite careful not to leave anything enabled. So, in an attempt to reset everything an start anew, I removed all the settings affecting sound in Roon. However, I never arrived at a point where I could sit still and enjoy the music without itching to tinker even more with the settings. I had been playing around with the Roon DSP and settings a lot. In my case, moving away from Roon happened just before my annual subscription expired. I don’t mean to be rude, but if you’re just echoing a sentiment that is not yours and without your own experience of the issue discussed, then it’s a bit meaningless, no? Like I said, I may well have missed something. I was really looking forward to Kazoo being updated, but the Linn app just feels like a facelift of the same buggy, crashy old thing. Again, streaming works fine, and there's no problem when I use an iPad, so it seems to be phone-specific rather than iOS. I have an iPhone 12, and had an X before that, and with both of them it's not possible (or possible only very rarely) to click through to anything stored on my server. Search of streaming services works fine.ģ) It doesn't work on my phone. I have my music stored on an Innuos server connected directly to my DS, but I'd say about a third of the time the Linn app can't see an artist I know full well is there, making me have to search by album. Am I missing how to do this? If not, am I the only person who finds it maddening?Ģ) It's bad at searching. This feels primitive, clunky and not like any other way of playing music I've ever encountered. If I want to, say, listen to Side 2 of an album, or skip the first track, or whatever, I have to play the whole album, then skip forward to where I want to be. As with Kazoo, if you play a track it will only play that track and then stop. They areġ) There's no 'play from here' feature. I'm not expecting the app to be as good as Roon, but have three issues that somewhat spoil it for me. Accordingly I use Roon for social/background listening and discovering new music, and the Linn app for serious listening. I find it works poorly in a number of ways, but I'm not very technical so wondering if I might be missing something! I had been using Roon (whose lovely interface did spoil me somewhat), but have found that using the Linn app to control my DS directly leads to better sound. Just wondering what people's experience is with the newish Linn app that replaces Kazoo.
